So March… what a month. It felt like a year. Little did we all know what it would have in store. That a pandemic would completely uproot all of our lives. Still, as far as the Goals I had planned at the beginning of the month went, I accomplished all but one.
March Goals
1. Switch up my workout routine – I had no idea when I cancelled my PlateFit membership just how much my workout would change! I started running but ended up getting plantar fasciitis so my exercise has been limited to walks and at-home workouts.
2. Plan two game nights with friends – Thank goodness for Jackbox! So even with quarantine, the game nights can continue! In the beginning of the month, we did actually have a couple in person game nights as well! My current favorite board game is Wingspan, and Luke and I are actually planning to play the digital version on Tabletopia (it’s free!) with some friends this week!
3. Have a date night with Luke – Luke actually planned me an early St Patrick’s Day themed date where we wore green, searched (and found!) four-leaf clovers in a field, ate corned beef, got Shamrock Shakes from McDonald’s for dessert, danced to Irish music, and watched Darby O’Gill and the Little People on Disney+. I loved it all!
4. Plan my first visit to Disneyland – This is the obvious one I couldn’t cross off the list. Who knows when it’ll open again. I’m glad they’re extending my pass so I can finally go when it’s safe to do so though.
April Goals
1. Read three books – I love reading but with my almost-always full schedule, there has, unfortunately, been little time for me to do it as much as I would like. I still am pretty busy working from home and taking care of extra chores and errands more than I was before. However, things have slowed down enough where I do have time to relax (yay!). What better way than finally crossing off some books that have been on my TBR list for the past year? FYI for those lamenting closed libraries like I was – download the Overdrive app. It is a game changer! Just enter your library card info and you can have access to SO many E-books and Audiobooks for FREE!
2. Start logging my food – With my foot injured and being home all day, I still want to be conscious of my health and fitness. I’m sure many will gain weight during the quarantine but even with so many things working against me, I’m going to try to prevent that from being me. I’ve been steadily gaining weight this past year and have been frustrated how nearly all of my pants (even ones I bought just last year) no longer fit me. With this time in quarantine, I hope I can get my health back on track. If I can’t run or go to a gym or class for exercise, I’ll change what I’m eating. I would like to start logging my food – being conscious of what and how much I’m eating.
3. Stretch every day – As I mentioned earlier, I got plantar fasciitis and one way to help ease the pain is to do daily stretching of the foot. I am awful at remembering to stretch (this might have been what led to the condition) so I want to make it a habit to stretch not just my foot but my whole body everyday.
4. Discover new recipes – I know a ton of people are baking right now. I wish that could be me (because I love baking). However, I want to focus on finding new recipes that will get me excited about eating healthier foods!
