MegaCon Orlando 2018 Day Four Recap

MegaCon Orlando 2018 Sunday Recap // The Geeky Fashionista

Today I am sharing my final recap post from MegaCon Orlando 2018! It was a short day which makes this a short post! If you haven’t already, be sure to check out my other recaps from the previous three days.

What I Wore

Since it was so comfortable and fun to wear on Saturday, I decided to wear my Shiro Voltron dress again.

The indoor lighting really is not great.

Because of how crazy busy it was the day before, I didn’t get a chance to take any photos in my dress. To make up for this, my dad and I did two mini shoots. The first was inside the Exhibit Hall with its less than stellar lighting. After the con ended, we did an outdoor shoot in front of the convention center that turned out really well (natural light for the win!). Like my Kim Possible cosplay, those outdoor shots will be in a separate post.

Anime Costume Contest

Compared to Saturday night’s cosplay contest, this one was much smaller both in terms of the stage and scale of cosplay entries. It had a much more laid back feel. The focus was on anime but there were a few gaming ones in there as well. The level of skill was all across the board. You had people who worked months on a cosplay as well as those who finished them in just a day.

Unfortunately, I don’t know who won as the contest. Judging took much longer than I anticipated and I had to leave before the winners were announced to meet up with my dad for lunch.

Elijah Wood & Amy Jo Johnson Q&A Panels

I sat in on two celebrity panels today. The first was for Elijah Wood who I’m sure most of us know as Frodo Baggins from the Lord of the Rings trilogy. When asked who’s career he admired most in Hollywood, he stated his Lord of the Rings costar Viggo Mortensen. He said he wants to achieve longevity and that it’s important to have more than one vocation and not just focus all your energy on acting. He explained the process of filming the unique POV shot film Maniac as well as how it was filming green screen for Lord of the Rings and Sin City. Despite being a child actor and starring in one of the biggest movie series ever, he came across super down to earth.

Amy Jo Johnson as the Pink Ranger is one of my earliest childhood heroes. There were plenty of Power Ranger fans in the audience and they had a lot of Power Rangers related questions for her. However, she hasn’t kept up with the series and was unable to answer most of them but tried her best. Someone asked if she could be another ranger color today, what would it be. She answered purple. She shared that David Yost, the Blue Ranger, is still one of her best friends. Talking about her farewell to Power Rangers, she said it was wonderful. They gave her a guitar (she also got one, funny enough, when she left Felicity) and she also got her first lead movie role – Suzie Q, a movie I loved as a kid!

Wrap Up

Besides the usual spending my day browsing the Exhibit Hall to take photos of cosplayers and look at art, that’s it for MegaCon! As I stated in my Day One recap, I’m so thrilled that my health made it through all four days! Here’s hoping it holds up for my next con, Anime Expo, next month!
