The Geeky Fashionista is a geek lifestyle/fashion/beauty blog. It was started back when I was in college in December 2010 as a place for me to share some of my random thoughts and interests. It was originally supplemental to my Youtube channel of the same name. Now, that channel is on hiatus and my main focus is the blog.
About Amanda
My name is Amanda and I’m the creator of The Geeky Fashionista. I was born and raised in Florida, graduated with a degree in Retail Merchandising and Product Development from FSU, did a quick stint working in Fashion PR in NYC, then moved to Los Angeles where I currently reside with my sister and two cats. I was in college when I started this blog alongside my Youtube channel, and it’s so crazy to think I’ve been writing on here for nearly 8 years!
Today, I am in my late twenties and work for a talent agency in Hollywood. It’s remote which gives me great flexibility to travel and work on the blog as well as allow me to take care of my health. A year or so ago I was diagnosed with SIBO and although I’ve made several lifestyle and diet changes, I still deal with chronic pain, migraines, and nausea daily. This blog allows me to do something I enjoy even if I’m too sick to leave my bed, and I’ve been so grateful for that and the opportunities it’s yielded such as being able to attend various conventions as Press.
Other things to know about me:
- I’m a Christian and my faith is the biggest part of my life.
- I’m also a self-professed crazy cat lady.
- I’m a novice cosplayer although my health has kept me from doing it as much as I’d like.
- My guilty pleasures that I can get way too invested in are The Bachelor and otome games.
- I feel like I’m the only blogger who doesn’t drink coffee XD
- I recently started doing hot yoga and LOVE it!

About Melissa
Hello, Internet friends. I’m Melissa, Amanda’s sister and fellow geeky fashionista. I’ve watched Amanda develop and expand this blog over the years, and even helped out here and there with editing and photography. But now I’m actually contributing my writing talents as an author! I studied film in college and am currently pursuing a career in television writing, so hopefully I don’t have a bunch of spellng errors or anything.
