Upcoming 2018 MegaCon Schedule

Upcoming 2018 MegaCon Schedule // The Geeky Fashionista

In just a few days I’ll be attending MegaCon Orlando! This is one of my favorite cons because I just love the wide variety of geekdoms that are represented and the large amount of wonderful guests and interesting panels. You’ll see everything from gaming to science fiction to anime/animation to cosplay to horror and more.

The complete MegaCon schedule recently came out so I immediately started work on my schedule! There’s so much to see and do you don’t want to waste any time! Here’s a breakdown of everything I’d like to do – if you’re going to the con and attending any of these events, feel free to say hi!

My 2018 MegaCon Schedule

Thursday 4-9pm

I’ll be spending the first half of my day at Universal/Islands of Adventure with my family until the con starts. I’m still debating on whether I’ll do a cosplay today – it would be something simple like my Star Trek uniform or a Harry Potter outfit. I’m super excited to see that there’s a Harry Potter Escape Room and would love to do that right away before my schedule gets too crazy in the days ahead. At 6pm, I think it would be neat to step in for a bit for the Dragon Ball VA panel before going to the Sorting Hat Ceremony. Then I plan on browsing the artist’s alley and exhibitor’s hall before my photo op with the two leads of one of my favorite movies, 2001: A Space Odyssey. I’ll end the night with one of my most looked forward to panels of the con celebrating the 50th Anniversary of 2001. Short day but should be a fun start to a great con!

  • 4pm – Harry Potter Escape Room
  • 6pm – Dragon Ball VA Panel, Sorting Hat Ceremony,
  • 7:40pm – 2001 Photo Op
  • 8pm – 2001: A Space Odyssey 50th Anniversary

Friday 10-7pm

When my day starts will depend how I’m feeling in the morning and how quickly I can get my cosplay ready. To be safe, I’ll plan on starting my day at noon with the Cosplay of Anime panel. I think it’d be fun to drop by the Harry Potter cosplay meetup for a few shots then check into the Worbla panel. You’ll notice I do a lot of panel drop-ins. I’ll stop by to listen to All Might a bit before maybe going back to the Photo Park for some shots of Sailor Moon cosplayers then do lunch. I really want to do an improv show and this one with the Improvengers at 3pm seems to be the best one for my schedule. Then I’ll check out Cosplay Construction Breakdown with the cosplay queen herself Yaya Han at 4pm OR drop into the Anime OTP discussion – I’m interested to hear what people have to say. Then at 5pm, I’ll decide if I want some more comedy with some live standup or want more cosplay construction with Cosplay Therapy. To end the day, I’ll just walk around taking photos of cosplay or checking out the exhibit hall.

  • 12pm – The Cosplay of Anime
  • 12:30pm – HP Cosplay Meetup in Photo Park
  • 12:30pm – Working with Worbla Basics
  • 1pm – My Hero Academia’s All Might! Chris Sabat Q&A
  • 2pm – Sailor Moon Cosplay Meetup in Photo Park (maybe)
  • 3pm – Live Improv Comedy by the Improvengers
  • 4pm – Cosplay Construction Breakdown with Yaya Han/Your Ultimate Anime OTP
  • 5pm Cosplay Construction 101 with Cosplay Therapy/Geeks of Comedy – Live Standup

Saturday 10-7pm

The Jeff Goldblum panel is sure to be popular so I’ll want to be early for that. If for some reason, I don’t make it in, there are two panels at noon that all seem pretty interesting. I’m not all that familiar with his work but John Cena seems like a cool guy and his panel at 1pm will probably be fun. Afterwards, I’ll get lunch. I’m super excited to attend both the One Punch Man and Jeremy Shada (voice of Lance from Voltron) panels. Afterwards are two education workshops I’d love to both make. I’m currently teaching myself Japanese so it’d be neat to do an introductory class-like lesson. As cool as that is though, I think watching a cosplayer photographer pro like David Love to a live photoshoot while taking audience questions is just too neat of an opportunity to miss! Finally, there’s the big Master of Cosplay contest to finish up the evening!

  • 11:30 – Jeff Goldblum Q&A
  • 12pm – Anime Death Match/Celebrity Cosplayers Q&A
  • 1pm – John Cena Q&A
  • 4pm – One Punch Man’s Many Questions Panel
  • 5pm – Jeremy Shada Q&A
  • 6pm – Japanese Language Mini Lesson/Live Cosplayer Photoshoot
  • 7pm Master of Cosplay Contest

Sunday 10-5pm

Sunday is usually my day to take cosplay photos and buy merch from the exhibit hall and artist’s alley. I’ll probably wander around and do that/eat until Elijah Wood’s panel at 12:30. Since I want to do the Amy Jo Johnson panel at 4 and the con closes at 5, I won’t get a chance to do my last minute merch purchases then and will want to do them at the start of the day. After Elijah’s panel, I’ll kill more time taking photos/looking at fan merch until the Anime Costume Contest. Then, I’d like to drop in for the Sailor Moon panel for a bit then either go to Yaya’s Cosplay Business panel or if I didn’t see it on Friday, the live standup show finally ending with seeing my one of my childhood heroes, the Pink Ranger.

  • 11:30 – Elijah Wood
  • 1:30pm – Anime Costume Contest
  • 2:30pm – Sailor moon: Retro But Relevant
  • 3pm – Cosplay Business with Yaya Han/Geeks of Comedy – Live Standup
  • 4pm – Amy Jo Jonnson

As you can see, I have quite the schedule planned! I really hope I’ll get to do the majority of it! Either way, I know I’m going to have an amazing time!
