    Review: Irresistible Me Hair Extensions

Today I will be sharing my Irresistible Me Hair Extensions review. The company, which specializes in 100% natural Remy clip-in hair extensions, hair accessories and hair tools, reached out to me a couple weeks ago asking if I’d like to try out their hair extensions. Even though I had long hair at the time they contacted me (almost as long as their extensions), I had been wanting to cut it short for some time but had a few hesitations. First a little background on my hair – I’ve had it long for as long as I can remember and it’s relatively thick. For years, this long, thick hair was one of my favorite and most complimented features and my safety blanket – I was super self conscious about having a rounder face and felt the long hair gave it the illusion of looking leaner. Today, I’m not quite as self conscious, but I was afraid that once I cut my hair, I would realize the short hair didn’t suit me and that I also would miss having my long locks. To calm these fears, I had previously looked into hair extensions but got overwhelmed and gave up.

Enter Irresistible Me. When they contacted me, I was at the point where I was so unhappy with how damaged my hair had become, I was ready to just throw caution to the wind, and get it cut. Once so soft, my hair now felt dry and course no matter what hair masks and conditioning treatments I did and full of split ends (most likely the result of rarely cutting or trimming it to keep its length). What my hair needed was a fresh new cut to give it a fresh new start. With the assurance of having these hair extensions as a backup in a worst case scenario, I cut off over 12 inches of hair and got myself a nice little lob haircut. Luckily, I ended up loving the haircut but it does feel super strange not having long hair anymore.

Fortunately, with these super easy to clip-in hair extensions, I can have the best of both worlds anytime I want!

    Review: China Glaze’s Stone Cold

Today I’m reviewing one of my favorite nail polishes – China Glaze’s Stone Cold originally from their Hunger Games collection. I wore it for Christmas and plan on wearing it for New Year’s Eve as well. Even though it’s one of my all-time favorite nail polish colors, this review won’t be all positives as it certainly has its cons.
Stone Cold is a truly beautiful and unique dark gunmetal grey color with slight shimmer that dries with a matte texture. It’s the first matte polish I ever bought and unlike anything else I have. I absolutely love that it actually looks like graphite. It has a very cool neutral look that I find very versatile as it looks both edgy and sophisticated. It’s definitely a go-to for special occasions and events.
Unfortunately, it’s formula leaves much to be desired. It applies well enough and goes on pretty opaque after one coat, but I still recommend using two as I’ve never come across a more chippable nail polish. An hour (sometimes less) after applying two thick coats AND a base and top coat, it’s already chipping if I’m not careful with my hands. The next day, half of the polish on every finger on both hands is pretty much gone. On the upside, like many matte polishes, it dries super fast so re-doing/touching up your nails isn’t so bad.
All in all, this stunning nail polish isn’t without it’s flaws. I wouldn’t recommend it to someone who’s wanting a long-lasting, no-chip polish, but it’s color is just so different and pretty that I still think it’s great for something specific like a party or a night out – just find yourself a reallyyyy good top coat!
It retails for $7.50. I’m not sure what luck you’ll have finding it in stores as it’s from an older collection, but Amazon (not an affiliate link) has it for $6.95 plus free shipping!
    What’s your favorite matte polish?

    December 2015 Ipsy Bag Unboxing

I haven’t done an Ipsy unboxing/unbagging post in a while and this December bag was just too good not to write about! I’m definitely going to use each and every product in this month’s amazing bag!
If you’re unfamiliar with Ipsy, it’s a beauty subscription service that sends you a cute little “glam bag” filled with 5-6 full or deluxe-sized products each month for $10. The bags are catered towards your preferences (through a “beauty quiz” you take when you sign up) so the products in the bags vary from person to person. I have been an Ipsy subscriber pretty much since it started and have been very happy with the various products I have received from them. If you would like to sign up for your own Ipsy bag, click HERE (referral link).
I like the idea of a quilted bag and the red is nice and appropriate for the holidays, but I wish it was executed a bit better. Ipsy can be hit or miss with the quality of their actual bags and this month was a miss as it felt pretty cheap, but fortunately they more than made up for it with the awesome products inside!
    Inside the Bag
Pacifica Power of Love Natural Lipstick
The super cute packaging immediately caught my eye! The red lip color is perfect for the holidays. The 100% vegan and cruelty-free formula is super creamy and moisturizing made with coconut oil, shea butter, and Vitamen E – just what you need on those cold days that dry up your lips. Use code POWEROFLOVE at for 20% off any purchase.
Lather honey moisture mask with propolis extract
This paraben-free, super-hydrating mask smells lovely, goes on smooth and feels wonderful on the skin. It’s specifically made to revitalize stressed skin with propolis extract, natural honey, and other nutrients nourishing to the skin. Use code IPSYHONEY at for 20% off any purchase + free gift.

Elizabeth Mott Thank Me Later Eye Shadow Primer
I don’t wear eyeshadow too often anymore but the holidays is definitely a time I do, and I certainly would use a primer! I haven’t tried this product yet but it claims to dry transparent, smooth and prep your lids, and keep your eyeshadow bold and crease-free all day! Also love the classy packaging. Use code THANKIPSY at for 30% off any purchase.
RickyCare by Ricky’s NYC Classic 3D Blender
Yes, yes, yes!! I was so happy when I saw this in my bag! Beauty blenders are my preferred method of applying foundation – I already have two and love them both but am more than happy to add another to my collection, especially one in such a pretty soft blue color. Like other beauty blenders, it is reusable and can be used wet or dry (I recommend using it wet though). Unlike other beauty blenders, it’s supposed to have a denser texture to give it a longer life cycle and to fit the contours of the face. Use code IPSY at for 10% off this product.
FORMULA X Nail Polish in Revved Up
Absolutely gorgeous rose gold metallic color that’s great for the holidays! Super cute packaging and the mini size is perfect for travel.

Em Cosmetics by Michelle Phan Shade Play Artistic Eye Color Palette *BONUS GIFT*
As excited as I was about the beauty blender, I was even more excited about this awesome bonus gift! It came with a note saying these were sent to subscribers of over 3 years and like I mentioned earlier, I’ve been with Ipsy since they started (whoo, go me!). I thought it was incredibly thoughtful to show their appreciation and make their long-time subscribers feel special. Plus, it’s an awesome palette! The colors are beautiful and I LOVE that they’re neutrals and can be worn everyday. It’s also the perfect size for your purse, feels high quality, and comes with a handy mirror and two little eye brushes. Boom.
Well done, Ipsy. I’m looking forward to another year of great service and products!

Geek Fashion Review: On the Byas x Star Wars Tank Tops

Between companies like Her Universe and We Love Fine, geek fashion for women has evolved much since the days when our options mostly consisted of unisex t-shirts. Now there are many fashionable and flattering options for geek girls of all shapes and sizes in a multitude of fandoms. Unfortunately, for our male counterparts, most geek men’s fashion has stayed within the regular crew cut t-shirt realm so I was beyond delighted when I saw a Pac Sun booth next to We Love Fine in what I designated the Star Wars retail area of San Diego Comic Con. I was drawn right away to their Star Wars x On the Byas collaboration collection with their fun and colorful mix of prints and patterns and how they incorporated various Star Wars characters and vehicles in a subtle way.

My boyfriend, Luke, received two of the tank tops from the collection and wears them both regularly. Since I don’t often cover men’s fashion on the blog, I asked if he could give me his male opinion on the tank tops and he happily obliged. The following is his honest review of the Millennium Falcon Floral Tank Top and the Darth Vader Floral Tank Top – both of which he is modeling in the accompanying photos of this post (doesn’t he make such a handsome model?).
“I’ve certainly received plenty of compliments on the tank tops. Probably the best thing about them is the subtle addition of the Star Wars characters and vehicles with the Hawaiian floral design. Many of my friends have had to take a moment before realizing what was on my shirt and then burst out with the “That is AMAZING!” laugh. The fit is also great. Being a tall and slender guy, I often find that getting the small sizes of tank tops are either too short for my torso or that the medium sizes are too large around my waist, these however (which are both smalls), fit great.
My small bit of criticism towards the shirts is the variation in pixel resolution for each design element. Clearly they are not all the same DPI, as some objects look very grainy or blurry, while others are very clear and crisp, and so the various elements really do not match up that well. Another minor note that a friend pointed out (yes, this is for the most hardcore Star Wars fans) is that the Millennium Falcon is indeed reversed. The cockpit should be on the right side.
In the big scheme of things, these are Hawaiian print Star Wars summer tank tops, and living in Southern California and always being surrounded by a bunch of fellow Star Wars nerds, it couldn’t be a cooler addition to my wardrobe.”

These are definitely girlfriend approved! To check out the rest of the Star Wars x On the Byas collection click HERE!

What do you think about these tank tops?

    Influenster VS Sport VoxBox Review

If you are familiar with my blog, you will be familiar with Influenster and their awesome “VoxBoxes.” For those of you who are new, Influenster is this awesome site where you can complete surveys and tasks and submit your various social networks to determine how influential you are – the more influence you have, the more likely you’ll qualify to receive VoxBoxes which consist of free sample size or full sized products for you to test and review. I’ve received some AMAZING things from them so if you aren’t already, SIGN UP!
When I saw this box in front of my apartment door, I literally squealed. I was so shocked and happy. Shocked because I remember taking the survey for it and being told I didn’t qualify (?) which I was super bummed about. Lo, and behold there it was though!
The outer packaging wasn’t pink as you might guess but instead a nice sleek black and white. Inside, however, contained the signature pink striped box we are so used to seeing. Among the meticulously packaged tissue paper were a bunch of 25% off coupons for any one VS Sport item (I’ve already given some to friends) and a booklet showing their new line of sports bras. I’ve got to say, these sport bras look amazing. My former main sports bra is one I bought years ago, but it wasn’t anything special. It wasn’t the most comfortable bra, and it pretty much just “strapped em down” while not giving much support.
What I received in this box wasn’t just an awesome new sports bra, but they also included some workout pants for a complete outfit. I have been in dire need of new workout clothes since I’ve gained some weight over the last year so I couldn’t have been more thrilled.

I received the Incredible Victoria’s Secret Sport Bra and incredible it was! I’ve never really invested in a nice quality sports bra so this was definitely leaps and bounds better than any other sports bra I’ve ever owned or tried. Here are some of it’s features:
    Concealed wire for cushioned support
Padded straps and bonded, seamless technology that eliminates irritation
Super-soft elastic band for comfort and movement
    Cushioned, adjustable back closure
Oh, where do I start? There’s so much I loved about this bra.
Okay, first off, it’s SUPER comfortable! The material is very light and breathable, it almost feels like you’re wearing nothing! I would totally wear this to just lounge around my apartment. It also lets air in and helps decrease sweating and keep you dry with it’s wicking liner which is awesome during an intense workout.
Second, the support is fantastic! I didn’t feel like my chest was being strapped down at all! Instead, it just keeps everything in place while you exercise. I think this would be perfect for a high-intensity cardio workouts and things like running or boxing.
Third, the fit was amazing! I have a hard time finding bras that fit me perfectly but this seemed like it was custom made for me! I’ve also heard they’re great for both smaller and larger chested women as well!
That all being said, retailing at $54, this bra is an investment. Do I think it’s worth it? YES. The quality is incredible and it will definitely last you a long time. If you are someone who works out a lot or even just looking for a good, comfortable, supportive bra, I HIGHLY recommend it.
I also received the Knockout by Victoria’s Secret Sport Crop pants. They are a solid pair of workout pants that would be great for yoga or studio classes, but nothing too out of the ordinary. The description says it’s made of a “nylon performance fabric with four-way stretch that creates a second-skin fit.” The fit was good and I liked how the reinforced band sucked in my tummy making it look nice and flat haha. The day I took these photos was extremely hot outside (over 100 degrees) and the Body Wick fabric helped me stay cool and dry in the heat. This retails for $60 in stores.
Finally, here are some extra photos of me in these two pieces “in action” at the park. I wanted to make sure before I wrote this review that I got a good workout in them! I’ve been a bit out of the gym scene since I’ve moved to LA, but my awesome new workout gear definitely motivates me to exercise more!

Have you ever tried anything from VS Sport?

**This is a sponsored blog post. Influenster provided me with complimentary Victoria’s Secret products to test and review as part of a contest. Opinions are 100% honest and mine 🙂

    Influenster Surfs Up VoxBox Unboxing

Wow, I can’t believe I’ve already received another VoxBox from Influenster! It seems like just last month that I received my amazing Mary Kay box!

This box is titled the “Surfs Up” VoxBox so I would assume it’s filled with items perfect summer items for a day at the beach. The bright orange box is much smaller than my Mary Kay VoxBox, but it doesn’t make me any less excited to see what’s inside so let’s get to it!
    Inside My VoxBox

    Jamba Juice Smoothie Kits ($2.99-3.49)
Inside is a coupon for a FREE all natural smoothie kit which I think is pretty awesome. I love smoothies and I love making them with my Nutri-bullet. And what’s better on a hot summer day than a nice refreshing smoothie? All you have to do is add juice – super easy! And it’s loaded with fruits and yogurt, is fat-free, gluten-free and includes a healthy antioxidant boost, one full serving of fruit and 100% of your daily value of Vitamin C. Wow – healthy and yummy! Sign me up!
Hawaiian Topic Silk Hydration After Sun (2oz/$2.99, 8oz/$8.99)
This says it’s the first and only after sun product that “combines ribbons of gel and lotion to leave your skin feeling luxurious and refreshed.” It features 24 hours of moisturization, is lightweight feeling, smells like coconut papaya, and refreshes sun-tired skin with soothing aloe gel. Well, I cant vouch for the 24 hour thing yet, but it definitely smells great, is very lightweight feeling and moisturing. Also I love the bottle and it’s size – perfect for travel or throwing in your beach bag.
    First Aid Shot Therapy ($2.99)
Or “FAST” is an FDA compliant liquid pain relief shot that can be used for headaches/migraines, sore muscles, back pain, and hangovers. So it’s like those energy shot drinks, but for pain relief which I think is pretty nifty. I am constantly plagued with headaches and sore muscles and the occasional hangover so I really hope this works! It is also Berry flavored but I can’t imagine it is all that tasty. The packaging is cute.

    SinfulColors Professional Nail Polish ($1.99)
Ooh nail polish, always a win in my book. They say the formula is formaldehyde, toluene, and DBP free and is never animal tested. For being called “Sinful” Colors that is all very unsinful-like. Haha. I received the color “Song of Summer” which is a muted mint color which is right up my alley. Super affordable, dries quickly, and only took two coats. After a couple days, it’s only slightly chipped on one finger which is amazing considering my nails always chip!

COVERGIRL Bombshell Curvaceous by LashBlast Mascara ($9.49-11.99)
Finally, the product I was most excited about! This is dual-wand mascara that features the two formula “revolutionary Bombshell Boost System.” The Step One side is a curved brush that acts as a primer to thicken, volumize, and curls lashes. The Step Two side is a topcoat that “seals the look for bold, noticeable lashes.” To really get the desired bombshell effect you have to use the two wands together, Step One first then Step Two. It claims to act as a waterproof mascara with long lasting power. We shall see – can’t wait to try this out!

Thanks again to Influenster for providing me with all of these products to try and review!

REVIEW: Covergirl Clean Whipped Creme Foundation

Today I’m going to be doing a review for Covergirl’s Clean Whipped Creme Foundation. This product was sent to me from BzzAgent, a word of mouth social marketing company, free to review. If you’d like to be a BzzAgent as well, click HERE. The last time I reviewed a foundation it was Revlon’s Nearly Naked a while ago and I absolutely loved it. Click HERE to watch that review on Youtube.
“Our lightweight whipped crème foundation gives your skin a boost of moisture without the greasy, shiny finish. You’ll love the dreamy, 100% breathable formula that leaves your skin looking smooth, natural, and matte. “
It comes in a little jar container and contains 0.6 fluid ounces instead of the usual 1 ounce of most foundations. It’s a bit more affordable though with a price tag around $7-8 instead of the usual >$10.
The line contains 10 shades so it’s not the biggest selection. I got this online so I didn’t get a chance to see the shades in person but since I’m pretty pale, I chose the second lightest shade – 310 Classic Ivory. It has a very pink undertone.
Like the name implies, it has a very creamy, light, whipped texture. Applying it to your skin, it feels super soft – like silk or cashmere. It has a matte finish, and while not super moisturizing, doesn’t feel like it will dry out your skin.
First off, let me say I have combination skin – my cheeks, forehead, and temples get very dry while my nose, chin, and mouth area gets very oily. One thing I really worry about with these kind of foundations, is that they’ll feel heavy or look cakey, and I prefer a foundation that looks very natural.

This went on very nicely with my Beauty Blender. It was light and easily blendable. I would say the coverage is light to medium but also build able – a little does a long way – you don’t want to overdo it or you might end up looking cakey. I don’t think you could achieve a full coverage look with this though. I’ve noticed several people have mentioned it has a poor wear time, but I wore it for over 8 hours without a primer or setting spray and I didn’t notice any splotchiness or oiliness. I was actually quite pleased with how it wore over time.

Light, creamy texture with matte non-drying finish
    Easily blendable and buildable
    Less product
    Limited color selection
    Not full coverage
    **May cause breakouts

**EDIT: This post and the accompanying video were done after only a “first impression” of the product. I have now been using it for almost a week and have been noticing that I’ve been breaking out horribly. I can’t remember the last time it’s been this bad – I usually only get one every now and then around my mouth area but I’ve broken out around my nose area as well this time. I’ve been very good about my skincare routine and the only thing that has changed in my makeup has been using this foundation so I can only assume it was the cause of the breakout. I’ve since decided to stop using the product 🙁

    Have you tried this foundation?
Tell me your thoughts in the comments & don’t forget to check out my video review and demo below!
