    My 2016 Christmas Wishlist

    My 2016 Christmas Wishlist
I can’t believe it’s only three weeks until Christmas! I’ve already finished up most of my Christmas shopping which makes me realize I’m probably putting this post up a bit too late to genuinely be useful to anyone (sorry, family!) as they too have probably already finished up most of their shopping…although, to give myself some credit, I actually think this is the earliest in December I’ve posted my Christmas wishlist in the 5+ years I’ve had this blog.

Yes, I think I’ve made a Christmas Wishlist every year since 2010 and even though I’m at the age now where if I really want something, I can just go out and get it for myself instead of hoping to find it under the tree from Santa (although those days were magical and Santa really did spoil me as a kid), I want to keep this post tradition going and share with you all what my personal wish list items are for Christmas (or otherwise)!

    My Christmas Makeup Look

As far as holiday makeup goes, I kept my Christmas makeup this year rather light. With the outfit I planned to wear, I knew I wanted to bust out a bold red lip. I love smokey eyes and winged eyeliner, but decided to keep my eyes neutral and instead opted for strong brows to balance out the lips. Since there was little eye work, this look took less than 10 minutes to complete.

I first prepped my face all over with Olay Complete All Day Moisturizer and my new Urban Decay Pore Perfecting Complexion Primer Potion. For foundation, I applied Revlon’s Nearly Naked in Fresh Beige with a Beauty Blender. Then I used my Bobbi Brown Corrector in Light to Medium Bisque to cover up my dark eye circles (because boy do I have them). Next, I applied Maybelline’s Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Treatment Concealer in Brightener along the bridge of my nose, my chin, under my eyes, and the area above the middle of my brows (see photo below) for some highlighting/concealing/contouring. I skipped powder and bronzer and just applied Maybelline’s Master Glaze in Make A Mauve lightly on my upper cheekbones blending it downwards with my fingers. To finish up my face, I used a dense brush to apply the balm’s Mary-Lou Manizer above my cheekbones, along the bridge of my nose, and my cupid’s bow.

As I mentioned, eyes were very simple. I curled the lashes first then applied Maybelline’s Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze with my fingers all over my lid up to the brow bone. Using the Mary-Lou Manizer again, I swept it along the brow bone and the inner corners of the eyes. Finally, I applied my current go-to mascara Covergirl’s The Super Sizer in Black. Moving upwards, I used my trusty Anastasia Brow Powder Duo in Brunette to neatly shape and fill in my brows. I mostly use the lighter color, but will use the darker along the outer areas for a sharper line. Once I’m done, I set it with Anastasia’s Clear Brow Gel to keep everything in place.

Bold lips are great during the holidays, but they take a little prep work if you want to make sure they last through all the yummy dinner foods and desserts. I outlined my lips with Urban Decay’s 27/4 Glide-On Lip Pencil in Ozone then filled them in. This stuff is great at preventing feathering and helping your lip color last. Even though it does everything a lip liner does, I still decide to use my NYX Lip Liner Pencil in Cabaret (I just like how it looks with the lipstick) – I once again outline my lips then fill them in completely. Once done, I apply my Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate lipstick in 107 in then finish the look with Nars Larger Than Life Lip Gloss in Place Vendome.

There you have it! My “simple” Christmas makeup look this year!

    My 2015 Christmas Wishlist

Why does it get harder and harder each year to think of stuff you want for Christmas? My family has been asking me the last couple weeks what I’d like, but I’ve been so busy with end-of-the-year work stuff and exams, putting together a “Christmas list” hasn’t been much of a priority so that’s why I haven’t posted it until now. I realize it’s too late to help anyone out anymore (sorry, Daddy!) but for anyone curious about what I’m currently loving this holiday season, here ya go:
    1. Darth Vader Inspired Leather Jacket – Many of the fashions at Her Universe are hit and miss with me – I usually prefer the styles over at We Love Fine a bit more, but I am ALL about this jacket! Love the subtle details that a Star Wars fan would definitely recognize, but that it’s totally wearable for everyday. Not a bad price point either!
    2. Comfy Boots – Sometimes I just want to leave my apartment in my sweatpants whether it’s just to get the mail or get groceries and regular boots just won’t do. They certainly don’t need to be Uggs as they are quite pricey, but as long as they’re comfortable, easy to slip on, and fit – I’ll have no complaints about what it looks like or what brand it is.
    3. Heated Blanket – I’m always cold, and I love the feeling of being wrapped up in a blanket. A warm blanket. This would be perfect for those cold winter nights where I just can’t get warm fast enough.
    4. Fuzzy Socks – For my perpetually cold feet. Plus, who doesn’t love cute fuzzy socks?
    5. Sleeping bag – I went camping for the first time this year then later “camped” out overnight at the Chinese Theater for Star Wars tickets – both times I had to borrow my boyfriend’s sleeping bag because I don’t have one. I plan on doing more camping trips this coming year and *hope* to soon have a sleeping bag to call my own.
    6. Covergirl Star Wars Makeup Collection – There was a time I would’ve bought the entire collection, but I’m really trying to cut back on my makeup purchases – at least until I use up a good portion of it. Still, this is Star Wars so I’d like to have a few of the items especially the Super Sizer mascara since it’s my current go-to mascara that I absolutely love and maybe one of the more wearable lipstick colors and a nail polish.
    7. Small Drop Earrings – I used to be into big hoop earrings then big drop earrings then no earrings at all – now I’ll wear earrings occasionally for special occasions or when I’m feeling fancy and when I do, I like them small and dainty. Not a stud, I still want a little something hanging but nothing that will feel like it’s weighing down my ear or will get tangled in my hair.
    8. Loot Crate subscription – I’ve been eyeing this monthly subscription box for gamers, geeks and nerds for some time now – the quality and variety of the items/fandoms in each box really impresses me and I think it’d be something super fun to receive each month.
    9. 2016 Moleskine Planner – With my busy schedule, it’s probably not too surprising that I’m pretty attached to my planner. I love my 2015 Moleskine planner and wish it could keep going all through 2016 but, alas, it’s end is near and it will be time for a new one. Luckily, Moleskine has a Star Wars collection for 2016 which I can’t wait to get my hands on!
    10. iMac Desktop Computer – One day. One day I will gift this to myself. Gotta keep saving up!
What’s on your Christmas list this year?

    Merry Christmas!

Yes, I’m still posting about Christmas. After posting about my outfit and makeup, I’m finally sharing with you all my actual Christmas day experience with my family.

To get the gist of my Christmas morning, you can go ahead and watch my recent Get Ready With Me video so I won’t bore you with too many details here. Note about the Santa letter though – it’s a tradition that my sister and I leave out letters with questionnaires for “Santa” to write back. Some of the examples of questions we ask are “If you could switch places with someone who would it be?” Santa’s response? “Your dad seems pretty cool.” Haha.

This year, Christmas dinner started exactly on time at 4pm. If you know my family and I, that is quite an accomplishment. My dad made turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, sweet potato casserole, dinner rolls, and pumpkin pie while my mother brought over our family-tradition noodles and homemade cranberry sauce. Everything was delicious and quickly eaten.

Once we were all full of yummy food, we gathered around the tree and opened presents. My sister and I first checked our stockings – they were full of chocolate-covered marshmallow Santa bars and 6 mini flashlights… “Santa” continued to show a sense of humor through his gifts as I later received 2 more full-sized flashlights, a cat clapboard, a scary cat face hoodie, a “Cat Crazy” t-shirt, and the movie “Cat Women Of the Moon.” One thing is for certain, Santa knows I love cats.

When we were all done with gifts, we headed out to the movie theater to see “Mockingjay Pt One.” Unfortunately, we were running a bit late and upon arriving, there was a HUGE ticket line. Seeing as there was no way we’d be able to get a ticket before the movie started, we decided to head back home and watch a movie on Netflix instead.

Pretty standard, nothing too exciting, but it was still a wonderful Christmas to me because I got to spend it with my family. Check out the photos from throughout the day below!

My sister loved her new Star Trek Spock change purse! Gotta say, I’m a little jealous!
Got my own copy of my all-time favorite Christmas album!
Two of my favorite geeky gifts – a TARDIS beanie and a 2TB External Hard Drive!
One of my gifts to my sister – a new bath rug!
My gift to my dad – he got some good laughs out of it xD
Hope you all are having a wonderful holiday!

    Outfit of the Day: Christmas

Coming straight out of a grueling 2-day cross country road trip from California to Florida, I kept my Christmas outfit deceptively simple thanks to the combination of stripes and sequins. While I do think it’s cute, I know I could’ve easily elevated this outfit to the next level with a gold statement necklace, a belt, or even some festive nail polish…oh well, maybe next time.

    Get Ready With Me: Christmas

While I spent Thanksgiving in Los Angeles, I made it back home to Florida for Christmas! Adjusting to the time difference has been a bit tough (still is!), so I woke up a bit later Christmas morning than usual. This must be a sign of me getting old – I remember when I couldn’t sleep at all Christmas Eve in excitement and got up at the break of dawn to peek at presents. As a result of my lateness, my Get Ready With Me video is cut a bit short. My family were literally waiting on me to finish up so we could eat and open presents! I didn’t show my hair  being done (but I am planning a hair curling tutorial video in the future!), and I totally forgot to film my outfit, nails, and accessories! Sorry, guys! I did have my sister snap a few quick shots of me though.
Even though I didn’t get to film my hair and outfit, I did add in something a little different. I showed my usual just-got-out-of-bed morning look and what shower products I used along with my usual getting ready products. And before someone points it out, yes, I did brushed my teeth and floss – I just didn’t film it.

Get Ready With Me ❤ Christmas Day

Hope you guys all had a wonderful Merry Christmas yesterday!! Since I’m moving away to NYC in less than two weeks, presents were light (since I can’t take much up with me) but family time was still heavy. I won’t go into too much detail since I’m planning on doing a Christmas post so I’ll just jump right into my Christmas Day look.

I was originally planning on wearing a bright red cherry sweater, leggings, and scarf (as seen in the video). However, since this IS Florida, after wearing this outfit for no more than 20 minutes, I started sweating unbearably and had to change into something a little more breathable. Hence, the second outfit.

Either way, I knew I wanted to wear red to match my bold red lips. I originally wanted to wear my MAC “Ruby Woo” Matte Lipstick but couldn’t find it (I still have lots of unpacking to do from Tallahassee) so I went with my Kate Moss Rimmel Lipstick instead (paired with my Revlon “Candy Apple” Lip Butter which I LOVE). Since I decided to go for such dramatic lips, I downplayed everything else. Very neutral eyes and I passed on bronzer and instead used MAC’s “Soft & Gentle” Mineralize Skinfinish to give my super pale skin a touch of warmth.

Oh, and for my hair, I was feeling my natural waves so I literally didn’t do anything to my hair but spritz it with some leave-in conditioner.

Ta-da! What do you guys think??

What did you all do for Christmas??
