LOCAL: CLUTCH Magazine’s Fall 2012 Release Party

    clutchmag2012.png

This past Wednesday was the Fall 2012 Release Party for CLUTCH Magazine, FSU’s first and largest student-run magazine. Even though I’m still a little under the weather, I broke my recent hermit habits to venture out with a couple friends for one of my favorite events of the semester.

The party was held at Midtown Filling Station, one of my favorite venues in Tallahassee. The first 30 guests received VIP gift bags filled with goodies from Hanky Panky, Sephora, and local boutiques and salons. Along with the latest issue of CLUTCH, guests were also treated to mini cupcakes from Lucy and Leo’s, all-night drink specials (that included “Clutch-tinis”), and free raffle prizes.

Here are a couple of photos from the release party:

Definitely another successful CLUTCH Release Party!!

LOCAL: Fashion’s Fight Against Cancer Fashion Show

Last Friday was Tallahassee’s Third Annual Fashion’s Fight Against Cancer, an event that focuses on bringing breast cancer awareness to the city through fashion and entertainment. For a $30 ticket (a portion of which went to the American Cancer Society), guests were treated to a runway show of over 90 designs from BCBG, Banana Republic, White House Black Market, Blu Heaven Boutique, FSU Alumni, Buckle, and designer L. Allen. Food and drinks were also provided by Chili’s as well as entertainment by local musicians and the FSU Dance Department.

As some of you guys know, I work at BCBG (and have done previous fashion shows) and even though I had other plans that night, I couldn’t say no to my wonderful boss who needed help with the event. Also, I had recruited one of my gorgeous sorority sisters, Jackie (below in the teal jumper), and I wanted to be there to support her as it was her first time modeling in a runway show.

The show started a lot later than we expected (9pm instead of 7) and our poor models – many who had been there since 4pm didn’t walk until 9:30. Luckily, they kept everyone fed and the show, otherwise, ran without any glitches. Luckily, we had enough backstage help that during the actual BCBG portion of the show, I was able to take pictures of the models on the runway. Below are just a few of the pictures I took from the night. All outfits and accessories are, of course, BCBGMAXAZRIA. Makeup by M.A.C.

Dancer twins Gwen and Emily looked so ethereal – LOVE their fair skin!

Jackie and Gloria looked killer in their trendy jumpsuits.

Esteffania and Alex (a BCBG customer I also recruited that same day) showed us how to do striped blazers right.

Khadija (what gorgeous hair!) and Chanel (someone give this girl a modeling contract STAT!) seemed like they were born to model.

Jackie provided a strong opening for the show, while Nathalie rocked this awesome sequin/leopard print combo

Ashley, who seemed like she’d been doing this for years, looked super fierce in both her looks.

Khadija and Emily working the runway in their second looks.

Jackie and Gloria striking poses with their matching envelope clutches like pros.

Punam and I wearing matching power skirts.

What was your favorite BCBG runway look?

    Outfits for Ovaries

Ahh, I can’t believe I haven’t posted anything in a month! Life has just been so crazy with school coming to a close and my spontaneous decision to go backpacking in Europe for the summer!! Nevertheless, I wanted to share these photos from the Outfits for Ovaries fashion show hosted by CMA, Fashion Inc, and the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of North Florida. The clothes were provided by local Tallahassee boutiques Cole Couture, Spriggs Luxe, Way Out West, and Olde Fields. The hair was done by the talented crew at Haute Headz. I highly recommend checking out all these places!

As one of CMA’s Student Liaisons (the other being the fabulous Robin Holmes), I got to help out with a lot of the planning for the fashion show, working directly with the models and pullings. It also meant I couldn’t model in the show like I have done previously. Instead, I recruited several members from my beautiful APhiO family to model for me in the show along with my boyfriend. It was really great getting to dress and work with my gorgeous littles and siblings and everyone seemed to really enjoy the whole experience.

    Aren’t we a pretty family?

CLUTCH Magazine Spring 2011 Release Party

Last night, FSU’s student-run fashion magazine, CLUCTH, held their Spring 2011 Release Party. The event, which celebrated the magazine’s 10th issue since it’s founding in 2006, was held at The Midtown Filling Station and co-hosted by the online magazine CollegeCandy.com and the Collegiate Merchandising Association.

CLUTCH’s PR Director (and awesome friend), Chandra Robrock, and CollegeCandy put together quite the party. There were amazing VIP gift bags given to the first 50 guests (filled with goodies like Tarte lip stains and gift cards to Shoedazzle.com), a live DJ, all-night drink specials (including Clutch-tinis), 400 mini cupcakes from Lucy & Leo’s Cupcakery, free raffles for prizes like an HDTV and a $250 GlobalFashionBrands.com gift card, and, of course, free copies of the latest CLUTCH!

With CMA Publicist, Jacqui, and CLUTCH PR Director, Chandra (love them!)

CLUTCH is one of my favorite things at FSU. Every semester I look forward to the new issue. This past issue I was fortunate enough to contribute an article on Cosplay (staying true to my geeky self, as always),  co-write an upcoming entertainment feature, and work on the editing team. I remember when I first heard about CLUTCH on a segment during MTV’s TRL way back in 2007 and thinking how neat it was and how I’d love to be involved with something like that when I went to college. It’s crazy looking back now that I’m actually here at FSU being a part of that exact magazine.

If you want an issue of CLUTCH, feel free to contact me or stop by the CMA table on Market Wednesdays. You’ll also find it at various boutiques and salons in Tallahassee so be on the look out!
Here are some photos of my line and I at the release party:
It was a Royal Night for sure! Here with my big, 4 of my littles, and 2 of my grandlittles <3
